Chiropractic FAQ

What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is the modern science, art and philosophy that concerns itself with the relationship between the nervous system and the function (health) of the body. The nervous system controls the function of every cell, tissue, organ and system of your body.
Your spinal cord is protected by 24 moving vertebrae.  When these bones lose their normal motion or position, they can irritate the nervous system.
This can result in pain, stiffness, soreness, tiredness, low back pain, headaches and a variety of other health problems.
Your chiropractor focuses on correcting the cause of your health problems, by correcting your spinal misalignments, thus allowing normal nerve transmissions to your body's vital systems resulting in improved health - naturally

  • The chiropractic adjustment is the art of using a specific thrust in a precise direction.  This is applied to a joint that is fixated or locked or not moving properly.  This helps the bones to gradually return to a normal position and motion and releases pressure from the nervous system.
  • This safe and natural procedure improves spinal function, the nervous system function and ultimately, your health.
  • There are many ways to adjust the spine.  After years of training and clinical experience, our chiropractors have become highly skilled in a variety of adjusting approaches.  Traditional manual and low force techniques are used at our practice including: SOT, Activator Methods, NET and NSA.
  • Most people report that their chiropractic adjustments feel great.  When the bones of the spine return to a normal position and motion, nervous system function can be restored, symptoms relieved and the body can achieve its optimum potential.
  • Spinal misalignments can affect anybody, of any age, and any level of activity. No-one is ever too young or too old to stay healthy, active and energetic.  In fact, anybody can benefit from chiropractic's unique approach to health and wellness.

  • Frequently, spinal problems start from childhood years before spinal symptoms appear.  Identified early, most of these disorders are reversible and it is for this reason that spinal examinations of children by a chiropractor are imperative.
  • The birth process can be traumatic for a baby's spine especially if forceps or vacuum extraction is used.  This can lead to problems such as attaching to the breast and turning the head predominately to one side.
  • Many childhood complaints that are brushed off as 'growing pains' can often be traced to the spine. Regular chiropractic checkups can identify these problems and help avoid many of the complaints seen later in adults.
  • The chiropractor will want to discuss your immediate problem as well as any past health problems.  These facts will help in the interpretation of the examination findings.
  • A spinal examination will take place and the chiropractor may elect to take x-rays to better determine the nature of your problem and decide on the most appropriate treatment.
  • An individual course of care is developed by the chiropractor to achieve the best health outcome for your problems.
  • The treatment recommendations are based upon years of training and experience.
